Adam Lopez represents District 2 on the Springfield School District 186 Board of Education in Illinois. He was first elected to the board for a two-year term on April 9, 2013. Lopez ran unopposed and won re-election in the general election on April 7, 2015. Lopez ran in the 2015 special election to the U.S. House, representing Illinois' 18th Congressional District as a Democrat. He was defeated by Robert Mellon in the Democratic primary on July 7, 2015. The seat was left vacant following the resignation of Aaron Schock.
